Born for the Tropics: Reliability Testing Solutions for Brazil's PV Market

Most of Brazil experiences high temperatures and humidity, making PID (Potential-Induced Degradation) and backsheet delamination the primary threats to PV modules. Near the equator, intense UV radiation accelerates material aging. Additionally, Brazil's vast territory and variable road conditions pose risks of module damage during transportation.

Thus, we developed three targeted “functional packages”:

1. Tropical Climate & PID Protection Test Package

Objective: Overcome “humid heat” challenges to ensure module lifespan

Core Logic: Simulate high-temperature, high-humidity environments while monitoring leakage currents.

Equipment Combination:

Constant Temperature and Humidity Incubator: Conducts (humid heat) testing

Temperature Cycling Chamber: Conducts freeze-thaw testing to simulate nighttime condensation and thermal cycling.

Leakage Current Tester: Used in conjunction with environmental chambers. Monitors real-time leakage current under high-temperature/humidity conditions—critical for evaluating PID effects.

Salt Spray Tester: Assesses frame and mounting structure corrosion resistance along Brazil's extensive coastline (e.g., Rio de Janeiro, Recife).

2. UV Aging and Material Longevity Test Package

Objective: Combat equatorial-level UV radiation to prevent backsheet yellowing and cracking.

Core Logic: Accelerate aging to validate polymer material durability.

Equipment Combination:

Aging Test Chamber (UV/Xenon Lamp): Simulates full-spectrum sunlight to test EVA film and backsheet UV resistance.

Tensile Tester / Peel Strength Tester: After aging tests, measures peel strength between backsheet and cells to verify delamination resistance.

Tear Tester: Assesses physical toughness of backsheet material.

3. Long-Distance Transport & Mechanical Strength Test Package

Objective: Withstand Brazil's complex road transport conditions, minimizing micro-cracks caused by vibration.

Core Logic: Simulates violent transport and installation stresses.

Equipment Combination:

Vibration Test Bench: Simulates truck transport vibrations (random vibration) and transportation jolts.

Drop Tester: Verifies packaging box drop resistance during handling.

Ring Crush Tester: Tests stacking strength of packaging cartons to prevent crushing of bottom layers during warehouse storage.

Abrasion Tester: Evaluates surface wear resistance of modules (for inland dusty regions).
